Franklins is a true enthusiast’s garage, owned and run by a small team of self confessed petrol heads with over 20 years of experience within the automotive industry

We have a genuine passion for modern, classic and sports cars, and especially anything “out of the ordinary” whilst, Lotus, TVR, Porsche, Mercedes and Jaguar hold a special place our hearts.

Whether buying from us, allowing us to maintain, service or upgrade your pride and joy or letting us sell your car when the time comes to say goodbye, customers can rest assured that we will always offer the best advice and above all be honest.

Matt

I’ve always been a car nut, and, after leaving school, I worked for a number main dealers including Lancia and Alfa Romeo, but a job opportunity in the mid 90’s took me out of the industry. In 2013 I walked into TVR specialists Bespoke Performance and the sight and sound of these unique British sportscars immediately rekindled my desire to work with cars, and especially TVR.

When Bespoke Performance was purchased by the Hilton Group in 2021 and amalgamated with Castle Lotus I was appointed sales manager, at which time I fell in love with the Lotus brand gaining both knowledge and a real passion for these glorious, lightweight British sportscars.

Whilst I enjoyed my time at the Hilton Group, an opportunity to open my own garage specialising in the cars I am passionate about presented itself which led to the formation of Franklins Sports & Classics.

I now have a job I love, scouring the country for the best cars available and dealing with fantastic likeminded car enthusiasts. So, if you’re thinking of buying, selling or are looking for a particular car, please feel free to get in touch.

Bradley

I completed my Level 1 and 2 Diploma in Vehicle Maintenance in 2014, at which time I was introduced to Martin Russell, owner of renowned TVR and Noble specialists Bespoke Performance. He gave me the opportunity of a lifetime (thanks Martin), as an apprentice working under two of the most experienced TVR and Noble technicians in the UK. For the next 5 years I worked on these fantastic British cars being taught how to service and repair them to the highest of standards by the best in the business.

An opportunity at a Mercedes specialist presented itself and I moved on, learning numerous new skills about modern cars, however my love for the more traditional sports cars remained.

When Bespoke Performance was purchased by the Hilton Group, an offer to work on both TVR and Lotus was too good to turn down with Lotus becoming my new focus. I worked extensively on both Elise and Exige models under the supervision of their highly experienced Lotus technician, igniting a new passion for these lightweight British icons.

Louise

Having grown up in a family of car lovers (my granddad was a mechanic during WWII and had a passion for VW Beetles) it was inevitable that I would end up marrying a car lover.

When Matt and I met he was driving a Fiat X19, a car that impressed my parents and their friends more than me as it wasn’t the easiest to get in and out of!

30 years on, and too many cars to count, we were delighted to open Franklins Sports and Classics. Having lived in Stansted Mountfitchet since our children were small, it was incredibly exciting to find our own premises here to sell sports and classic cars. 

As well as driving the odd sports car or two myself (the TT being a particular favourite), I will be keeping Matt in check and the paperwork up to date, and look forward to welcoming you to Franklins Sports and Classics
